If you were to count how often the door handle clicks in your home, you might find that doors are among the most frequently used elements in your interior. Given their size, they also serve as a dominant feature in any room. That’s why it’s worth taking the time to choose them carefully and think about which ones are truly “yours.”
1. Start by selecting a specific model…
It’s ideal to close your eyes and imagine your dream doors as you step into your favorite room. However, since the options are vast and varied, take inspiration from our collections of interior doors.
Some may be drawn to solid doors that highlight the wood’s texture, while others may prefer various glass inserts to brighten up every room. Fans of rustic interiors will appreciate the pronounced profiling of doors, minimalists will favor subtle lines, and owners of industrial interiors will also find something to suit their taste… Whether bold or understated, everyone will find their perfect match.

TIP: When you click on a specific door collection, you’ll discover additional models that differ in the level of glazing and its exact placement on the door panel.

2. ... and continue with the choice of surface.
Once you know which model will suit your interior, focus on selecting the surface based on the level of wear and tear the doors will endure. The appearance is what you’ll see every day, but a high-quality finish ensures that the doors will withstand daily use.
A frequently used living room will demand more durable doors that can handle the wear from children and pets, while doors for a rarely used storage room can save you money. When choosing, don’t forget to consider the maintenance requirements of different surfaces. Check out the detailed surface characteristics.
TIP: By selecting your desired surface finish, you’ll also see the corresponding decor options.
3. The decor makes all the difference.
Choose the decor or shade with maximum consideration for the materials and colors used in your interior. White doors will be almost invisible, allowing furniture or flooring to stand out, while a bold wood decor on the door panel will make it the room’s focal point. And what about industrial black!
Along with the decor, don’t forget to choose the type of glass insert. They differ not only in transparency and translucency but also in overall design.

4. What’s inside matters!
It’s also important not to overlook the choice of door core, which, along with a high-quality surface, contributes to the door panel’s durability. The winner in terms of performance and price is lightweight particleboard (DTD), but you can also choose from other types like honeycomb or homalight. Some door models are made with only one core structure.
If only one variant is available, it’s always a high-quality, universally usable core (good sound insulation, long lifespan, etc.). This applies to MDF for frame doors, as well as Homalight and solid wood. Read more about the characteristics of door cores.
5. Decide on the door opening style and design.
The key decision in this phase is whether you want swinging or sliding doors. Swinging doors are hung on two or three hinges and offer various design and practical options. The classic choice is half-lip doors, which have a recessed half-lip on the sides and top edge, slightly protruding above the frame when closed. In this design, the hinges are clearly visible.
A modern flush door solution is becoming increasingly popular. In this case, the entire door panel is set into the frame and remains flush with it when closed. This design gem is made possible by special hinges integrated into the frame. For the cleanest lines, consider flush doors installed in a concealed frame. This aesthetically perfect alignment of the door panel with the wall elevates the interior to the highest level.
To maintain a minimalist line for adjacent doors that need to open in different directions in the same space, reversible doors are the solution. Combined with flush doors, they create an uninterrupted wall line. This not only offers a clean design but also a practical solution, allowing the door panel to open in the opposite direction. It solves space limitations while adding a new visual dimension to the interior.

Consider sliding doors too! Sliding doors into a pocket or along the wall are a modern, aesthetic, and functional element that saves space in a room. Doors hung on a wall-mounted track, hidden in a decor-matched casing or ALU finish, can be installed without major construction work. However, sufficient wall space is necessary. Pocket doors, on the other hand, need to be planned during the rough construction phase but maximize interior space. TIP: Don’t be afraid to mix opening styles! Incorporate doors from the same collection in both swinging and sliding variants into your interior—they’ll complement each other perfectly.

6. A touch of technical details
Once you know what your doors will look like, it’s time to measure the width of the structural opening and choose the correct size. Standard single-leaf doors are labeled as 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, while double-leaf doors are labeled as 125, 145, 160, 165, 180, 185. Product prices are based on a door height of 197, which is the height found in most households. However, doors with a height of 209.7 are becoming a trend, especially in new builds. We also offer custom-sized doors in other widths and heights. Verify the correct door width using the recommended dimensions for structural openings.
You’ll also need to choose the door orientation—whether you need right-handed or left-handed doors. To determine this, stand where the door will open. Right-handed doors will have hinges on the right side and open more easily with your right hand, while left-handed doors will be the opposite. For a detailed explanation, read the article How to Identify Right and Left Doors.
7. Frames and hardware are essential!
To complete your door setup, it’s essential to consider the choice of frames. Ideally, purchase the door panel along with the frame to ensure a matching appearance in terms of both decor and finish. A modern design can also be achieved by choosing a frame in a contrasting shade.

First, based on your chosen doors, select the type of frame—whether you need a classic casing frame, a special frame for flush or reversible doors, a concealed frame, or the so-called OKZ—covering of the original metal frame. Then decide on the frame’s finish, which will influence the choice of decor or shade. You’ll find a wide selection of frame types in the frames and systems section.
Finally, choose the hardware. Modern shapes and finishes turn an “ordinary” door handle into the cherry on top, enhancing the overall impression of the door panel. Therefore, it’s important to think carefully about your hardware choice. For guidance, check out the guide to selecting door hardware.
